Glossary

Plain-English meanings of the terms used in Chainage and in Queensland road work, from AADT to TGS.

Transcript

A few terms come up all the time. Chainage is the distance along a road from the start of its section, in kilometres, also written C H, then kilometres plus metres. A road section is TMR's number for a stretch of road, and a carriageway is one side of it. AADT is the annual average daily traffic. A dropped pin is a point off the road, and a range is a stretch of road between two chainages.

Sites, phases and layers organise a project, and a seat is one member of a company.
