How accurate is Chainage?

How Chainage works out chainage from TMR reference points, how close it is to TMR's data, and when to double-check.

Transcript

Chainage uses TMR's own reference points, about every ten metres along each carriageway, and works out the exact position between them. So a chainage is within a few metres of TMR's data. Your result also depends on where you tap, and on your GPS. The card shows the GPS accuracy. For work where the exact position matters, check critical chainages against TMR records, or survey marks.
